Tavatavanawai to make All-Blacks debut

Highlanders Centre Timoci Tavatavanawai has been selected in the All-Blacks team to face France in the 2nd test of their 3 match series. He has been named on the bench and will officially make his International debut when he takes the field.

The 27 year old left Fiji at the age of 16 to pursue his rugby dreams and has turned down approaches to play for his homeland in the hope of securing a prestigious New Zealand jersey.

Tavatavanawai the latest Fijian All-Black

Highlanders Co-Captain Timoci Tavatavanawai is one of 5 new faces named in the All-Blacks squad today. The powerful Centre has turned down Flying Fijians invitations on multiple occasions and his faith has seemingly paid off.

Since his debut season with Moana Pasifika, the Tailevu native has been a Super Rugby sensation and his move to the Highlanders has only further solidified his stature in the competition.

Also named in the squad is regular Sevu Reece. Unlucky to miss is Crusaders Prop George Bower, Chiefs winger Emoni Narawa and Blues Number 8 Hoskins Sotutu.

Crusaders back on top

The Crusaders have returned to the top of the Super Rugby mountain, winning the 2025 title after beating the Chiefs 16-12 in a tense and exciting match.

They led 13-12 at halftime and both sides failed to score any points until a 72nd minute penalty gave the home side a 4 point buffer which they maintained until the final whistle. The win gives the Crusaders their 13th title in combined competition.

Sevu Reece started at Wing while George Bower came off the bench in the 54th minute.

The Chiefs heartbroken after their 3rd straight Grand Final defeat. Emoni Narawa started on the wing.

Mataele joins Drua

The Fijian have announced the signing of former Chiefs and Crusaders winger Manasa Mataele. The veteran finisher brings a wealth of experience to a young backline who lost some of their biggest names this off-season.

Mataele battled injury the past 2 seasons, managing just 2 caps for the Chiefs in 2025 and 2 games for Canterbury in the 2024 NPC, where he will return for the upcoming season.

Smith signs with Drua

The Fijian Drua have revealed their latest signing in former Melbourne Rebels Lock Angelo Smith.

Smith played 20 matches for the now defunct Rebels in their final 2 seasons. He was selected for the Flying Fijians in 2023 but left camp before playing a match. He bolsters the Locks department which already has representative players Isoa Nasilasila and Temo Mayanavanua.

Isoa Nasilasila put in another solid performance for Fiji against Scotland. He was strong in his carries, tackled well and was reliable at lineout time.

Simione Kuruvoli was at the top of his game against Scotland. The nippy halfback provided crisp and accurate passing and was solid with the boot.

With the unavailability of Frank Lomani and Peni Matawalu, Kuruvoli has really stepped up.

2 turnovers in Scotland win

Another solid performance from Elia Canakaivata in Fiji’s win over Scotland. Starting at openside flanker again, he was strong with ball in hand, gaining precious metres and getting Fiji on the front foot.

Defensively he was menace in the rucks and also forced 2 turnovers.

Fiji 29-14 Scotland

Mesake Vocevoce came off the bench for Fiji against Scotland. He replaced Isoa Nasilasila in the 66th minute.

Fiji were forced to defend most of the time Vocevoce was on the field as Scotland threw the kitchen sink at them.

Impact from Ravula

Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula replaced Salesi Rayasi in the 54th minute of their win over Scotland. The Drua flyhalf immediately sparked the backline who at that point became a little stagnant. He shifted the ball around well and together with Caleb Muntz, kept the opposition guessing.

He combined with Muntz to send Jiuta Wainiqolo on a brilliant run that ended in a try.
