Former Nasinu Secondary School student Paula Balekana is known for his elusiveness and broken play running. Never afraid of contact but also has great footwork and is always a threat returning the ball.
The man who grew up in Wainibuku was offered a scholarship to Kelston Boys High School, New Zealand in 2012. By 2016 he was playing for Gordon in the Australian Schute Shield before linking up with the Sydney Rays for the 2017 NRC Season.
From there he was signed by Italian Pro-14 side Zebre up until 2020 when he moved to the US to link up with the Sabercats. He now plays alongside fellow Fijians Veramu Dikidikilati and Apisai Tauyavuca.
In 2021 Balekana was named in the All-MLR Second Team.
