One of the most recognisable players in World Rugby. Josua Tuisova is known for his powerful and destructive carries, a match winner at his best. He is in his 2nd season with Racing 92.
Racing 92 played visitors to La Rochelle to finish off round 9 in a match which featured several Fijians.
Centre Josua Tuisova was named captain of the side and led the team well despite being on the wrong end of the scoreline.
He was handled well by the defence and was restricted to only a handful of carries whilst failing to hit double digits in his yardage (9m). Defensively he made 8 tackles and won 1 turnover.
After a close loss to Castres in Round 5, Castres returned to the winners circle in Week 6 against Montpellier with a hard fought 32-25 win.
Josua Tuisova started at Centre and was fairly well contained by the opposition defence although he still managed to make 49 metres from 8 carries.
He was the difference maker in the end, setting up Wilfried Hulleu for a try with a great offload in the 51st minute before throwing the final pass to Vinaya Habosi who scored the decisive try in the 76th minute.
Racing won their 2nd consecutive match, putting behind them their opening round loss.
Josua Tuisova started at Centre and was probably underused, carrying the ball into contact on only 4 occasions. He was busy in the breakdowns and in defence, making 9 tackles for the night and forcing 2 turnovers.
It’s his first start of the season after coming off the bench in their first 2 games, the workload of the 31 year old seemingly being managed by the Racing coaching crew.
Josua Tuisova proved again to be the centrepiece of the Flying Fijians attacking game. Constantly hitting the ball up into a brick wall and tacking several defenders to bring him down.
At times he looked a little overworked, leaving little in the tank for later in the game. He was replaced by Vilimoni Botitu in the 65th minute.
A mammoth 19 carries for 118 metres, 2 offloads and 7 defenders beaten. Defensively he was also a brick wall, causing a maul turnovers and 2 ruck turnovers.
