Canterbury survived an almighty scare against a valiant Counties Manukau who went down swinging in the 4th Quarter final.
Down 15-5 at halftime, they worked their way back in the 2nd half to tie the match after 80 minutes 15-15.
Chay Fihaki was heavily involved and one of the home sides best. Starting at fullback, he made 10 carries for a team-high 94 metres, 1 linebreak and the try that broke the deadlock in overtime.
He also kicked 1/3 conversions and missed a 72 metre penalty attempt that would have the stats man checking the history books, but crucially kicked a 50 metre penalty in the 93rd minute which gave his side a 8 point buffer with 7 minutes to play.

Canterbury are through to the Semi Finals of the NPC after an almighty scare against Counties Manukau. The visitors came into the match on the back of a 5 game win streak and after 40 minutes, led 15-5 with the upset firmly in view.
The home side worked their way back into the game in the 2nd half and after 80 minutes, the game was tied 15-15. Overtime ensued and it was Canterbury who scored through Chay Fihaki in the 86th minute. He also kicked a 50 metre penalty kick to give his side an 8 point buffer and ultimately the win 23-15.
