Castleford Tigers have secured the signing of Semi Valemei on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old Fijian has crossed for 23 tries in 46 NRL appearances with the Canberra Raiders and Cowboys and will link up with Castleford ahead of next season.

“Semi combines speed and power, and he’s a proven try-scorer at the highest level,” said Director of Rugby Chris Chester. “He’s the kind of player our fans will be eager to watch in Super League, and we’re delighted to have got this deal done.”

He joins Mikaele Ravalawa who is also on his way to the Tigers and already at the club Jason Qareqare.

Semi Valemei scored his 2nd double in as many games for the Cowboys in their final match of the season.

Down 12-0 early and down a man, the Cowboys still managed to create an overlap for Valemei to cross for their first try of the night.

He later took an intercept to run the best part of 50 metres to bring his side level 7 minutes into the second half.

The Broncos however would score 3 more tries to the Cowboys 1, giving them a 38-30 win.

North Queensland finish the season in a disappointing 14th position.
