Peniasi Dakuwaqa scored a superb try for Stade Francais in their stirring last minute win over La Rochelle 26-24.

After an opposition knock-on, the ball bounced into Jeremy Ward’s arms and he found Dakuwaqa who streaked away for his 3rd try in his last 3 games.

His 133 metres were easily the most in the game while also forcing a turnover in defence.

Peniasi Dakuwaqa returned to the Stade Francais lineup after missing last week with a flare-up of his knee injury.

Despite clearly being hampered by his knee, the Nadi native scored another brilliant solo try to open the scoring in the 18th minute.

With nowhere to go, he chipped behind the defence before booting it downfield, making it a footrace with 2 cover defenders. Dakuwaqa beat them to the ball in an incredible show of speed and athleticism.

It wasn’t all good news for him however, making an error later in the game which led directly to Monty Ioane try.

He made 55 metres from 7 carries, 2 linebreaks and 2 defenders beaten.

After winning their opening match of the season, Stade Francais have now lost their next 2 games first to Pau and now Lyon 37-42.

Peniasi Dakuwaqa was in fine form to open the Top 14 season. Stade Francais hosted Montauban, the winger making the first linebreak in the match which led to the first try of the season.

He was denied a try after chasing through a kick which he put in around the halfway mark but only just missed out on getting the ball down first then denied again for a knockon in the leadup to what looked like a certain 5 pointer.

He beat a match high 9 defenders in the game and ran 86 metres from 7 carries despite not being at 100% with strapping on his left leg.
