A week after failing to score a point against Agen, Dax returned home and inflicted a similar fate on their opponents Carcassone, stopping them from scoring a single point in a 19-0 win.

Jale Vatubua returned after missing last weeks match, starting at Centre in what was a solid hitout for the veteran.

His run gave Jope Naseara an opportunity for a quick pick-up and run to score their second try in the 26th minute.

The win sees Dax climb off the bottom of the ladder albeit into second-last place but crucially against Carcassonne who now take 16th position.

A disappointing season for Dax following their feats last season in making the finals. They dropped back to an 11th placed finish with 13 wins, 16 losses and a draw.

In his first season for the club, Vatubua played 21 games, starting in 17.

Statistically he wasn’t too flash, completing at just 66% for tackles made. With the ball he made just over 4 metres per carry and scored 2 tries overall.

Dax won their first match from their last 8 outings, and first since early January. A big scalp nonetheless, Beziers 33-6. Vatubua started at Centre and played all but the final 3 minutes. They sit in 8th position, at least 2 wins outside the top 6 with just over a handful of games remaining.
