New Zealand – Hoskins Sotutu 20, Sevu Reece 23 | Wallabies – Rob Valetini 6, Marika Koroibete 11

Valetini moved to flanker. Sevu Reece makes his return for the All-Blacks.

Pro D2 Day 5 Sep 22-23

Colomiers – Peni Rokoduguni 14 vs Vannes

Biarritz – Johnny Dyer 4, Henry Speight 14 vs Carcassonne

Johhny Dyer has started at lock in all 5 matches this season. He is the only Fiji Representative forward to have done so in the Top 14, Pro D2 & Premiership. Henry Speight scored his first try of the season in this match.

Montauban – Josua Vici 14, Epeli Momo 19, Semesa Rokoduguni 22 | Stade Montois – Misaele Petero 22

Josua Vici got a double while Epeli Momo scored his first for the season. A big win for Montauban considering Mont de Marsan are leading the competition. It’s the first time all 3 Fijians at the club have been in the same 23. Momo’s conversion into a backrower seems to be paying off. Misaele Petero made his Pro D2 debut for Mont de Marsan, no sign of Wame Naituvi or Nacani Wakaya.

Nevers – Alivereti Loaloa 13 @ Oyonnax

No Joe Ravouvou for Oyonnax and Gabiriele Lovobalavu still yet to play this season.

Soyaux – Ledua Mau 13 | Beziers – Watisoni Votu 14

Ledua Mau the lone Fijian for SAXV who normally have 3 or 4. Kaminieli Raivono, Sikeli Nabou and Nasoni Naiqiri not playing this weekend. Watisoni Votu at 36 still a regular for Beziers.

Grenoble – Pio Muarua 8 | Aurillac – Simeli Yabaki 14

Simeli Yabaki plays his first match of the season.

Provence – Adrian Sanday 13, Luke Tagi 23 @ Massy

No Eroni Sau again this week while Luke Tagi named in the 23 jersey interestingly. The French really don’t follow traditional numbers at times. Adrian Sanday starts for the second time this season in the 13 jersey.

Rouen – Benito Masilevu 11 | Agen – Kolinio Ramoka 12, Timilai Rokoduru 14

Good to see Benito getting regular matches at Rouen. He has started in all his matches for his new club. No Tevita Railevu this weekend for Agen. He was strong in his last performance.

NPC Round 8 Sep 23-25

Canterbury – Manasa Mataele 14, Chay Fihaki 15 | Auckland – Alex Hodgman 1, Soane Vikena 2, Salesi Rayasi 15

Canterbury firming as favourites for the title this year. Manasa Mataele with another solid performance while Chay Fihaki recently penned a new deal with the Crusaders for next season. Rayasi scored the first try of the match while Mataele also crossed in the 41st minute.

Tasman – Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta 4, Levi Aumua 13, Timoci Tavatavanawai 23 vs Northland

Tavatavanawai continues to be named on the bench for Tasman. No Jone Macilai-Tori for Northland.

Levi Aumua with with a 5 star performance. 2 tries, an assist and beating 13 defenders. Tasman far too strong 52-17.

Bay of Plenty – Emoni Narawa 14, Haereiti Hetet 17 | Hawkes Bay – Isaia Walker-Leawere 4

Narawa has been one of the form players of the competition and he was again in top form. He scored a try and set up another on one of the best try assists you will see this year. He was also denied a brilliant chip and chase try due to a forward pass in the lead up. Steamers 20-14 Magpies.

Waikato – Mosese Dawai 23 @ Wellington

Dawai has been used off the bench in most his games this season.

North Harbour – Isoa Nasilasila 4 | Taranaki – Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens 14, Vereniki Tikoisolomone 22

Tikoisolomone is a 50/50 chance of playing. Kini Naholo rested along with Isaac Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens and Pita Gus Sowakula.

Nasilasila scored his first NPC try last week and backs it up with another this week. North Harbour too strong for the Bulls 35-19.

Counties – Zuriel Togiatama 2, Peniasi Malimali 11 @ Southland

Viliame Rarasea rested. Peniasi Malimali is starting to really settle into his role and is looking better in every match.

Malimali’s star continues to rise. A double and a game high 128 metres gained along with 7 defenders beaten. Southland won their first match in over a year 30-26.

NSW Cup Grand Final Sep 25

Panthers – Robert Jennings 3, Sunia Turuva 5 | Bulldogs – Isaac Lumelume 5, Brandon Wakeham 7

The Bulldogs have hit form at the right time. They have knocked off the minor Premiers Newtown and also North Sydney in the finals. It will be a huge ask to beat the Panthers but they have done everything asked of them so far. Brandon Wakeham will skipper the side. Sunia Turuva has been used on the wing as of late for Penrith.

Penrith are the NSW Cup Champions in 2022 after winning 29-22. Sunia Turuva scored a double including the final try in the 74th to put them ahead. What a year he is having. Fiji Bati awaits the young flyer.

NRL Preliminary Finals Sep 23-24

Parramatta – Maika Sivo 2, Waqa Blake 5, Reagan Campbell-Gillard 8 @ Cowboys

A match that wasn’t without its controversy. Reagan Campbell-Gillard with a double in this match and Maika Sivo scoring his 13th of the season putting him 1 ahead of Waqa Blake as top Fijian tryscorer in the NRL. The Eels into the big dance for the first time since 2009 where Jarryd Hayne played out one of if not the greatest season by a player in NRL history.

Panthers – Api Koroisau 9, Viliame Kikau 11, Sunia Turuva 21 (RES) | Rabbitohs – Taane Milne 5

Taane Milne coming off a strong performance for the Rabbitohs last weekend. A huge task awaits them in the defending Premiers. Api Koroisau could start off the bench again in a move that seems to have been working for Ivan Cleary and his men.

The Panthers advance to their 3rd straight Grand Final winning 32-12. Api Koroisau scored their first try. Taane Milne was sent off for a swinging arm, the first player do be sent off in a preliminary final since 1994.

Dragons – Talei Holmes 15, Aliti Namoce 20 (RES) @ Knights

Premiership Round 3 Sep 23-24

Bath – Joe Cokanasiga 14 vs Wasps

London Irish – Api Ratuniyarawa 4 @ Bristol

Api’s first start for the Exiles. Bristol pair Semi Radradra and Siva Naulago expected back next month.

Northampton – Sam Matavesi 2 | Leicester – Nemani Nadolo 11, Phil Cokanasiga 22

Cokanasiga has been getting regular matches this season for the Tigers. Nemani coming off a strong performance in his return last week.

Saracens – Eroni Mawi 17 | Gloucester – Albert Tuisue 8

Mawi started last week and will come off the bench this week. Tuisue starts his first match for the Lions.

Albert scored his first try in Gloucester colours off a rolling maul. Saracens won the match with a 84th minute conversion by Owen Farrell.

Newcastle – Cameron Nordli-Kelemeti 9, George Wacokecoke 12 @ Worcester

Wacokecoke starts his second straight game while Nordli-Kelemeti starts his first match this season. Newcastle are without a win over the first 2 rounds.

Nationale Day 4 Sep 24-25

Albi – Avenisi Vasuinubu 11 | Narbonne – Luke Nakobukobua 19

No Save Totovosau this week for Narbonne. Vasuinubu, the top Fijian tryscorer from last season still yet to cross the line in the first month of matches.

Suresnes – Petero Tuwai 12 | Stade Nicois – Joketani Koroi 5, Laijiasa Bolenaivalu 8, Sakiusa Bureitakiyaca 14, Sunia Vola 17

Good to see Petero Tuwai getting regular matches. He has started every game for his new club. Joketani Koroi who was our Nat 1 player of the year last year, returns for his first match this season.

Bourgoin – Kemueli Lavetanakoroi 19 | Dax – Ilikena Bolakoro (SQUAD)

Tarbes – Jone Seuvou 5, Josaia Vakacegu 22 vs Rennes

Valence – Ben Neiceru 12, Akuila Tabualevu 22 | Carqueiranne-Hyères – Sanaila Radevokula 11, David Raikuna 13

Sanaila plays his first match for the season. He was yellow carded in the 40th minute. Valence won 42-0.

Chambery – Mosese Mawalu 11, Vereniki Goneva 12 | Cognac – Eneri Lotawa 13, Isimeli Kuruibua 19

Top 14 Day 4 Sep 24-25

Perpignan – Alivereti Duguivalu 14 | Toulon – Jiuta Wainiqolo 14

Interestingly no Waisea Nayacalevu for the 3rd straight week. Wainiqolo has been in red hot form.

Lyon – Josua Tuisova 12, Temo Mayanavanua 18 vs Stade Francais

Tuisova makes his return from injury. It will be his first match since the Pacific Nations Cup. Sefa Naivalu rested for Stade Francais. He was named in the Top 14 team of the week last weekend.

Bayonne – Sireli Maqala 13 vs Bordeaux

Maqala was also named in the top 14 team of the week last weekend. Has continued his rise from the Pro D2 and now Top 14. Could be a real option for Vern Cotter in the Autumn tests.

Montpellier – Masivesi Dakuwaqa 6 | Pau – Jale Vatubua 12, Lekima Tagitagivalu 18

Masivesi makes his first appearance this season. Jale Vatubua has started all his matches this season.
Dakuwaqa scored in the 56th minute for the defending champs.

Castres – Leone Nakarawa 4, Filipo Nakosi 11, Vilimoni Botitu 12, Adrea Cocagi 13, Josaia Raisuqe 20 | Brive – Setariki Tuicuvu 13

Nakarawa returns and will start. Castres have selected all 5 of their top 14 rostered Fijians. Seta Tuicuvu will have the task of stopping Botitu and Cocagi.
A tryless game with Castres winning 12-6.

Racing – Kitione Kamikamica 8, Inia Tabuavou 13, Peniami Narisia 16, Ben Volavola 22 @ Toulouse

Kiti Kamikamica has been a regular for racing and Tabuavou seems to be locking down that 13 jersey. Peni Narisia makes his first appearance for the club since leaving Brive.

Clermont – Alivereti Raka 11 vs La Rochelle

Levani Botia yet to play in the new season for La Rochelle. Peceli Yato due back within the next month while Apisai Naqaliva still yet to play this season.

United Rugby Round 2 Sep 24-26

Benetton – Onisi Ratave 11, Iliesa Ratuva 23 @ Leinster

Ratave makes his URC debut in this match. Iliesa Ratuva also returns and will come off the bench.

Edinburgh – Viliame Mata 8 @ Bulls

Vili has started the season well and will hope to stay injury free. He will be a key player for Fiji in the upcoming tests.

Super Cup Round 3 Sep 24

Tel Aviv Heat – Semi Kunatani 8, Nemani Buliruarua 12, Jone Manu 13, Peceli Nacebe 14, Sailasa Turagaluvu 19, Jese Veremalua 20 vs RC Batumi

6 players in the lineup. Great effort from our Tel Aviv Fijians who have helped the club stay undefeated in the first two weeks. Make sure to sign up to Rugby Europe tv to stream the match live. The match will be streamed live at 11pm Saturday night FJT.

A game played in torrential rain. Not one for the backs. RC Batumi won 19-11.
