RKVT Fijian Flyer Grand Final

Through 6 weeks, 6 polls and 32 of our best players, we have finally arrived at the Gold Medal Race for the first ever Rakaviti Fijian Flyer Award Grand Final.

You all have voted and decided on the final 8 and ultimately who will be crowned the fastest Fijian Rugby player since the year 2000.

Lane 1 – Joe Rokocoko (Nadi) Rugby Union

At his peak Joe “Rocket” Rokocoko was rated amongst the fastest men in World Rugby. He lit up the pitch for the Blues, All-Blacks, Bayonne and Racing 92 over the course of 17 years and rightfully earns his place in this final.

Lane 2 – Marika Koroibete (Namosi) League / Union

The Namosi Express Marika Koroibete was arguably the fastest man in the NRL with Fox Sports clocking him at over 38kmph on a wet, heavy pitch. His speed combined with his aggression and power makes him a lethal weapon on the edge.

Lane 3 – Sireli Bobo (Rakiraki) Sevens / Union

Blazing Sireli Bobo had unbelievable breakaway speed thanks to his long stride and tall frame. He’s utilised his genetic gifts combined with his commitment and work ethic to afford a lengthy career, playing professionally up until the age of 40.

Lane 4 – Marika Vunibaka (Lomaiviti) Sevens / Union

The Vione speed demon Marika Vunibaka had a top speed very little could match at his peak. He scorched opposition defenders for the Fiji Sevens team and the Crusaders from the late 90’s into the mid 2000’s.

Lane 5 – Rupeni Caucaunibuca (Bua) Sevens / Union

The Bua Bullet was a talent like no other and his speed was a big contributor into why he is rated so highly. Through the early 2000’s he wowed fans with how easily he beat defenders regardless of their stature in the game.

Lane 6 – Joeli Lutumailagi (Nadroga-Navosa) Sevens / Union

Lightning Joeli Lutumailagi showcased his elite speed on the Sevens circuit for Fiji with some breathtaking solo runaway tries. The Nadroga flyer rightfully takes his place amongst the fastest Fijians this century.

Lane 7 – Semi Radradra (Cakaudrove) Sevens / League / Union

Currently there is no bigger superstar for Fiji on the world stage than the Semi Trailer. Across both league and union he has been ranked the best in his position and has shown his exceptional breakaway speed on countless long range tries.

Lane 8 – Jarryd Hayne (Macuata) League / Sevens / NFL

The two time NRL Dally M medallist, former NFL Running Back and Eels legend was one of the fastest men in the NRL at his peak. The Hayne Plane rounds off the fans top 8 fastest Fijian Rugby players this century.
