In the mid 2000’s William Ryder burst onto the 7’s scene in extraordinary fashion. He blew opposition players away with his footwork and acceleration and at his best was untouchable on the 7’s pitch.
He was touted as the apprentice and heir to the throne of 7’s King Waisale Serevi. Ryder possessed all the skills and craftiness of his mentor and played with an almost identical style although he took a different path and left the sevens circuit to pursue a 15’s career in the Japanese Top League.

Although retired, there have been rumours Ryder will be back on the pitch in 2020 playing locally.
