Former Sevens skipper Jone Daunivucu first appeared for Fiji at the 2002 Dubai Sevens. Blessed with speed, footwork and silky skills and on top of all his physical attributes, he was a great leader. He was handed the captaincy to the Fiji Sevens team in the 2005/2006 season.
In 2005 he was named in the RWC Sevens squad and was part of a formidable lineup for Fiji which ultimately won the World Cup with Daunivucu starting the match and scoring the first try in the final. He would later name this World Cup victory as the highlight of his career.Embed from Getty Images
In 2006 he captained Fiji to a Bronze Medal at the 2006 Commonwealth games in Melbourne and in 2007 he came off the bench in the Flying Fijians famous victory over Wales at the Rugby World Cup. He was also a part of the Quarter Final a week later against South Africa. He is 13th on Fiji Sevens all-time points scored with 422 points and 27th on the try scorers tally with 52.
At 44 Daunivucu is still doing what he loves. He is currently with Cognac in the Nationale 1 Competition in France.
