A skilful Centre with the ability to play fly-half or fullback. Matavesi makes the move to France this season, joining Bressane in the National 1.
Bressane won their first match of the season, a 23-22 nailbiter against Tarbes. After 2 draws in their past 2 outings, another tied game wasn’t out of the equation for the men in purple but they managed to get the points albeit by a single point.
It was also the first victory for Joel Matavesi who made his return to the side after missing last week’s match.
He’s started every match he’s played in the 12 jumper this season.
Joel Matavesi made his official club and competition debut for US Bressane. They travelled to Chambery to take on last season’s Semi Finalists and were beaten to the tune of 34-13.
He started at Centre in his first match.
Joel Matavesi has signed with Bressane on a 2 year deal starting this upcoming season, ending his time with Bedford and effectively leaving the English rugby system after nearly a decade.
It’s his first venture into French rugby and the National 1.
He comes in on the back of a 21 game season with the Blues in the Championship and Premiership Rugby cup.
