Savou switches over to Rugby Union after leaving the Wests Tigers development system in Australia. He was a Prop in the 13 man game but is listed as a Centre for Dax.
Former Wests Tigers SG Ball Prop Jekope Sovau made his Pro D2 debut on Friday night (Saturday morning FJT) for Dax in their round 5 clash with Provence.
He was named on the bench and made his entry into the game in the 60th minute.
Provence were too strong for the visitors, winning 42-15.
His debut came as a surprise to the Nadi native “First I didn’t know I was going to make my debut last week, was on my to training last week with the same mindset. Just to go train hard and do my best.”
Jekope Savou has signed with Dax in the Pro D2, signifying an end to his time in Rugby League at least for the time being. The 110kg wrecking ball played Prop for the Wests Tigers in their SG Ball side last year but has been recruited as a Centre for Dax.
He joins Jale Vatubua, Josaia Nacika and Jope Naseara at the club who finished outside the finals last season.
