A physical and powerful ball runner who came through the Fiji Sevens system before landing a 15s contract in Europe. Tuivuaka has become a cult hero in Brive since arriving from Racing 92.
Brive lost their 4th match in 5 games on Saturday night, this time at Beziers 25-17.
Winger Asaeli Tuivuaka scored his 3rd try of the season on the stroke of halftime. From a quick tap 5 metres out, he powered through the Beziers wall with the help of a couple of his teammates.
His 9 carries were the most for his side, whilst also making a team high 49 metres. He also beat 4 defenders and had a quiet defensive night with 2 tackles.
Asaeli Tuivuaka left the field for Brive after only 11 minutes due to concussion and did not return. Ironically it was the match in which he decided to wear a headgear. He made a tackle on a player catching a kick and stumbled after getting up. He then put a similar shot on Caleb Muntz minutes later and looked to have recovered.
There was no hint of a head impact in either tackle apart from losing his balance but it was deemed serious enough to warrant a concussion test. The medical staff’s assessment was proven accurate as Tuivuaka spent the rest of the match on the sideline.
Asaeli Tuivuaka scored another try for Brive in their 33-18 win over Oyonnax, making it 2 five pointers in 2 weeks.
He is still yet to play in a losing side this season, playing in all 4 wins of their 6 games (1 draw, 1 loss).
84 metres from 13 carries, 1 linebreak, 5 defenders beaten, 8 tackles and 1 turnover.
Asaeli Tuivuaka has played 3 matches this season, it just so happens to coincide with their 3 wins from their 5 games.
Brive were back at home and faced Grenoble in a battle of heavyweights.
Tuivuaka started on the left wing and had a superb performance.
He scored their 2nd try of the night in the 26th minute, beating his opposite winger 1 on 1. He made numerous big impacts in the game including big tackles and powerful carries.
A total of 7 carries for 45 metres, 2 linebreaks, 4 defenders beaten and defensively 7 tackles with 3 dominant tackles.
