Fans Vote for Fastest Fijian Rugby Player this century

It’s time we settled it. The hottest topic of every kava session, just who is the fastest Fijian Rugby player?

Since the Tokyo games have been cancelled and Fiji have been denied a chance of securing another medal, we’ve decided to throw up our own virtual track sprint and find out who our fans think is the fastest Fijian Rugby player from any code, this century. Just to be clear, that’s since the year 2000.

We should probably warn you not to take anything in this post literally apart from we will actually be running a series of polls to determine the winner.

Moving on…

Who will be racing?

Well, Fijian Rugby players of course. Some retired players have agreed to step into the rakaviti time machine and travel back into their prime bodies. Names like Rupeni Caucau who has decided to step away from his taxi business for a few weeks, Marika Vunibaka who doesn’t believe there’s a need for him to prove again he’s the real Speedy Gonzales of Fiji Rugby and Sireli Bobo who refused to travel back in time as he believes he’s in his prime now.

Players have descended from across the globe to claim the title. Kevin Naiqama, Joe Cokanasiga and Ratu Naulago have flown in from England on a special flight while Waisake Naholo decided to race the plane instead since there were no more seats due to COVID19 regulations.

French based runners Joe Rokocoko, Semi Radradra and Alivereti Raka have smuggled their way across the globe and are training the house down. Sevu Reece hopped on his speed boat and stopped by Melbourne to pick up Marika Koroibete and Suliasi Vunivalu along the way while our Sydney based NRL players all boarded the Hayne Plane on a one way trip to Nausori Airport, joining our Sevens stars who were already deep into training.

How will it work?

32 players, 4 heats of 8 runners per race as per any standard 100m sprint. You get to decide which four players progress to the next stage by voting on our website.
The winning four runners will advance to the semi final round of 16 and finally a final of 8 runners for the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal.

And kerekere everyone please vote for the players you think are the fastest from that group and not the player from your village or province.

Who will be racing?

We’ve revealed some of the players earlier in this post and will reveal the entire first group before the first race. Each poll will run for 7 days before the next group and poll is made available.
