The Top 14 is the premier rugby competition in France. It features 14 teams with a promotion relegation system. A total of 31 players are of Fijian heritage or nationality. This page is dedicated to their progress throughout the season.

Stade Francais defeat La Rochelle in 3rd straight win

Stade Francais won their third straight match on Sunday morning (FJT), taking another big scalp in La Rochelle 26-24 in a thrilling encounter which ended with an 81st minute penalty kick.

Winger Peniasi Dakuwaqa scored his 3rd try of the season and 3rd in as many games as he raced away in the 53rd minute after a loose pass fell in the hands of Centre Jeremy Ward who served up his speedy winger to do the rest.

Despite the win Stade Francais dropped down to third due to for and against but remain equal in points with leaders Pau and Toulouse.

Habosi scores 3rd try in 3 games in win over MHR

Vinaya Habosi scored his 3rd try in his last 3 games, this time against the high flying Montpellier side 32-25.

Although named at Centre, he played the majority of the game on the win as injuries forced a reshuffle by Racing.

He showed great strength to carry 3 defenders over the tryline and score the decisive try in the 76th minute, the final pass coming from Josua Tuisova.

Racing move up into 5th position following the win, a road trip to Toulon next up.

Wainiqolo scores 2 tries in win over USAP

Lyon flyer Jiuta Wainiqolo scored 2 tries for Lyon in their big win over Perpignan 44-19.

His first came in the 50th minute when he finished off a backline movement and in the the 75th minute he pounced on a loose pass, skipped past the first defender in the same movement and ran 50 metres to score another superb try.

He finished the game with a match high 133 metres, 3 linebreaks and 4 defenders beaten along with his double.

Bayonne suffer heavy defeat at Pau

Bayonne suffered their 2nd loss of the season against now league leaders Pau 47-24.

It took the visitors 30 minutes before posting their first points through Sireli Maqala who ran over 60 metres untouched. The Flying Fijians Centre made a tackle, forced a turnover and slipped by an unsuspecting defence to an open backfield.

Rayasi scores first try for Bordeaux

Bordeaux Winger Salesi Rayasi scored his first try for the club in the 68th minute of their 32-20 win over Lyon.

The Flying Fijians representative caught a perfectly weighted cross-field kick to break the 20-20 deadlock with 12 minutes remaining.

Bordeaux would score again 6 minutes later and would seal the result.

Racing's momentum stopped in heartbreaking loss

Racing 92's 3 game win streak came to an end in an 81 minute thriller at Castres.

They squandered a 10 point lead in the 2nd half through their own errors and let Castres back into the match and score the winning try with the clock in the red at the end of the game.

Vinaya Habosi started at Centre and after 5 penalty kicks between the 2 sides, he scored the first try of the match 8 minutes into the 2nd half. On the fly he regathered the ball and had too much speed for the fullback and cover defence, scoring a great solo try.

Racing host Montpellier next weekend.

Buliruarua scores as Perpignan lose 5th straight match

Perpignan are still without a win after the first 5 rounds of the Top 14, this time losing at home to Stade Francais 28-15.

Despite having the lions-share of possession in the first half, the home side could not maintain pressure, making costly errors and only scoring a penalty goal before their first 5 pointer in the second half to Centre Eneriko Buliruarua.

The Cakaudrove native ran up in support after a linebreak from his Fullback Theo Forner, running 40 metres to score his 2nd try of the season.

USAP sit at the bottom of the Top 14 having failed to score a single competition point from any of their matches.

Vunivalu scores superb solo try in Montpellier loss

Suliasi Vunivalu scored a superb solo try for La Rochelle in their round 5 trip to Montpellier.

The former Queensland Reds winger caught a midfield box kick, got up off the ground and managed to bump and weave his way past 5 defenders on his way to the tryline.

He was denied a try later in the game, slicing through the defence on a well timed inside-ball only for a mistake at the ruck in the lead-up spoiling the effort.

His try was the first of the match but would be the visitors only try for the afternoon, losing 37-13.

Sokobale's baptism of fire in Top 14 debut

Castres Prop Atunaisa Sokobale made his Top 14 debut on the weekend, coming off the bench in their 59-12 loss to Toulouse.

It was a baptism of fire for the 20 year old former Sigatoka Methodist student. Up against one of the best sides in the competition, he was thrust into the contest early in the 2nd half, playing 20 minutes in his first shift.

Castres scrum struggled all night but positive signs for the young lad getting an opportunity this early in his career.

Flash Dakuwaqa red hot against Bordeaux

Peniasi Dakuwaqa continued his impressive start to the season with another 5 star performance for Stade Francais who pulled off the best win so far this campaign, beating Champions Bordeaux 28-7.

Dakuwaqa scored a try and set up another. He was also denied a try earlier in the match. It's his 2nd try of the season after his try of the year contender last weekend.

In the same match Salesi Rayasi made his return after his concussion on debut in round 1.

Botia scores in La Rochelle win over USAP

La Rochelle returned to the pitch after their postponed match last Monday morning.

They hosted a determined Perpignan who fired out of the blocks with a try in the 9th minute and a penalty shortly after. That's where the scoring ended for the visitors, La Rochelle winning 31-8.

Levani Botia started on the bench and entered the game in the 54th minute. He scored the final try of the match in the 80th minute, powering over from close range, bringing the bumper home crowd to their feet and chanting his name.

In the same match Semi Lagivala got his first starting jumper in the Top 14, starting at Centre for La Rochelle and came away with the most defenders beaten and most run metres in the game.

Raka scores 100 tries for ASM Clermont

Clermont's veteran winger Alivereti Raka scored 2 tries in their round 4 loss to Racing 92.

His first try came 5 minutes into the second half and it was his 100th try for Clermont in all competitions.

He would score another 20 minutes later to bring his tally to 101.

A long time servant for the club, Raka made his debut on September 5th, 2015 - over 10 years ago, where he also scored his first 5 pointer.

He has played 177 games which gives him an impressive 57% strike rate.

Racing into top 4 with 3rd straight win

Racing 92 moved into the top 4 after winning their 3rd consecutive match with a win over Clermont 43-31.

Josua Tuisova scored the opening try of the match, powering over in the 4th minute.

Nathan Hughes started on the bench and scored with his first touch upon entering the game in the 49th minute.

Lekima Tagitagivalu was also on deck and was involved in a couple of their tries.

Castres record first win of the season

After losing their first 2 games to Pau and Toulon, Castres finally got a tick in the winners column in round 3, beating Bayonne 48-17.

It was an impressive effort considering they lost their fly-half in the opening quarter and even reduced to 13 men at the 24 minute mark.

Both sides gave away crucial field position early, Castres through scrum penalties and Bayonne through inefficient lineout work.

Vilimoni Botitu started at Centre and had a mixed game with a couple of passes hitting the ground, attempted offloads going astray but did manage to score directly from a Sireli Maqala mistake on the tryline.

Botitu took on more of a distributor role to cover the loss of their 10, and carried for 11 metres on 8 runs, 2 linebreaks, 2 offloads and was busy defensively with 10 tackles.

Racing win fiery match in Perpignan

Racing 92 are 2 from 3 after defeating Perpignan in a heated, tense match 28-15.

The match featured several Fijians including Vinaya Habosi who moved back to the wing and scored his first try of the season in the 37th minute.

Peceli Yato was one of the best on the night topping the metres and carries in the game.

Racing move up a couple of spots into the top 6 while USAP drop down to 13th on the ladder.

Masi scores 2 as Lyon go 3 from 3

Iosefo Masi had a breakout performance for Lyon in their round 3 clash with Stade Francais.

He scored his first try in the 37th minute after a neat trick play from the scrum, shooting through the defensive line and stepping the fullback to score.

In the 48th minute good defensive pressure resulted in a dropped ball and a runaway try for the former Fijian Drua 13.

He also set up another try later in the game after taking the ball from the lineout and offloading to his support player to score.

He made 6 carries for a match high 100 metres, 2 linebreaks and a match high 7 defenders beaten.

The home side led 40-23 into the final quarter but a couple of quick tries to the visitors brought them right back into the match and a chance to steal the game. However Lyon held on to win 42-37.

Lyon are the only undefeated side after the opening 3 weeks and sit alone at the top of the ladder. That record will be tested next weekend on the road against the 3rd placed Pau.

Hughes in again as Racing notch first win

After a disappointing loss to start their season, Racing bounced back with a big win and a big scalp too, taking down defending champions Bordeaux 44-32 despite receiving 2 red cards and a yellow throughout the match.

Nathan Hughes started at Number 8 again and like his debut, was impressive and heavily involved.

He scored yet another 5 pointer off the back of a rolling maul near the Bordeaux line.

Also impressive early was Wame Naituvi who made 2 linebreaks, a try assist and the most metres for his side with 65 despite his night ending after 20 minutes. He was replaced by Josua Tuisova who played the remainder of the game.

Lekima Tagitagivalu came off the bench in the 2nd half while Vinaya Habosi who was also solid started at Centre but moved to the wing when Tuisova entered.

Vunivalu scores first La Rochelle try

Suliasi Vunivalu scored his first try for La Rochelle in their round 2 clash against Clermont.

The former Wallabies winger finished off a backline movement close to the opposition line, running in untouched.

Vunivalu has started on the wing in both La Rochelle's opening matches.

On debut for Clermont was Lock Tevita Ratuva who started in the 4 jersey and Pio Muarua who came off the bench.

Maqala returns, scores for Bayonne

After missing Bayonne's season opener last weekend, star Centre Sireli Maqala made his return and made an immediate impact, scoring their opening try in the 12th minute of their clash against Montpellier.

Bayonne are 2 from 2 to start their 2026 campaign.

Alex Masibaka also made his return for Montpellier, coming off the bench and had a solid hitout, making 40 metres and beating 4 defenders.

Wainiqolo stuns in Lyon debut

Jiuta Wainiqolo made his official debut for Lyon in their round 2 clash against Montauban. He set up a try for Iosefo Masi who was also on debut.

In typical Wainiqolo fashion, he beat several defenders, weaving through traffic and brought down 10 metres out, two passes right and Masi had his first Top 14 5 pointer.

Wainiqolo would then score his own try 20 minutes later, outpacing his winger and beating the fullback with his footwork, running the best part of 60 metres to score.

He ran for a match high 142 metres and beat the most defenders with 5.

Montauban winger Josua Vici also had a big game for the home side, making 100 metres, scoring a try and being impactful with every run, even making positive impacts defensively.

Hughes scores in Top 14 debut

The much hyped Racing 92 travelled to Lyon in their opening match. Former Black Rams backrower Nathan Hughes started at the back of the scrum for the Parisians.

He scored their first try of the season in the 7th minute with a pick-and-go from close range.

However it would be their only 5 pointer for the afternoon, the home side Lyon coming away with a 32-7 win.

Vici first Fijian to score in new season

Stade Francais hosted newcomers Montauban to open the new Top 14 season.

Fittingly for the visitors, it was their star winger Josua Vici who opened their scoring in the 11th minute with an acrobatic finish.

The home side were far too clinical and ran away to a 42-12 lead before 2 late tries brought some respect to the scoreline for Montauban. Final score 47-24.

Top 14 selections for round 1

Teamlists for round 1 of the Top 14 are in with Stade Francais hosting newcomers Montauban in the season opener. Peniasi Dakuwaqa starts on the right wing, on the opposite side Josua Vici for USM.

Peceli Yato will make his debut for Perpignan off the bench with Eneriko Buliruarua starting. For Bayonne Luke Tagi has been named in the 23 jumper.

Iosefo Masi makes his Top 14 debut from Lyon's bench, while Nathan Hughes also makes his first appearance as Racing's Number 8. Vinaya Habosi is at 13 while Lekima Tagitagivalu makes his club debut off the bench along with Josua Tuisova.

Vilimoni Botitu is in the 22 jumper for Castres who travel to Pau while Setariki Tuicuvu starts on the wing for Toulon against Montpellier.

Salesi Rayasi play's his first competition match for Bordeaux who host La Rochelle. They have named Levani Botia at 6, Suliasi Vunivalu on the wing and making his Top 14 debut is former Mont de Marsan centre/wing Semi Lagivala on the bench.

Clermont and Toulouse wrap up round 1 on Monday morning with their teamlists yet to be released.

Mick Byrne names exciting lineup for Wallabies test

Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne has named an exciting lineup for their opening Test match this Sunday against the Wallabies. Amongst those named, former New Zealand Sevens rep Salesi Rayasi who will start at fullback.

Taking over the captaincy after the international retirement of Waisea Nayacalevu is Fijian Drua Hooker Tevita Ikanivere. Also making a likely debut if halfback Philip Baselala who has been named on the bench.

Seru joins Mont de Marsan on loan deal

Mont de Marsan has acquired the services of promising young Centre Tomasi Seru from La Rochelle for the 2025/2026 season on a loan deal.

Seru made his Top 14 debut in round 6 against Bayonne, coming off the bench and lining up against Manu Tuilagi. Stuck behind more established Centres, the powerful runner will gain valuable game time and experience in the Pro D2.

Mont de Marsan finished a disappointing 13th place last season after a promising 2023 campaign which saw them 1 game shy of the Grand Final.

Bayonne lock in Maqala long term

Bayonne and Flying Fijians centre Sireli Maqala have agreed to a massive five-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2030.

Rather than settling for a typical two- or three-year deal, the Blue and Whites made a strong statement about their belief in the Ra native's value to the team.

Now 25 and coming off his fourth season with the club, Maqala delivered his best campaign yet. With Bayonne emerging as a genuine finals contender, the club is clearly locking in key pieces for a bright future.

Duguivalu makes main French squad

Perpignan Centre Alivereti Duguivalu has been named in the France squad to tour New Zealand. This only a week after making his France XV debut.

He is one of 18 uncapped players in the squad which fly out next Tuesday.

Should he get the opportunity to wear Les Bleus jersey, he joins Noa Nakaitaci & Virimi Vakatawa as Fijians to represent France.

Toulon exit after Semi Final loss

Toulon's season came to an end this morning after losing their Semi Final against Bordeaux 24-39.

The visitors trailed 10-15 at the break but Bordeaux pulled away in the 2nd half and had too much class in the end.

Setariki Tuicuvu scored Toulon's final try in the 61st minute when he crashed onto a ball, running a great line to score. He also made a linebreak in the first half, one of the few times they broke the defensive line.

La Rochelle Centre Simeli Daunivucu has been named in the France U20 squad for the upcoming U20 World Cup which begins next weekend.

Daunivucu played 7 matches this season at club level and also in their U20 6 Nations campaign which they won.

Bayonne bow out

Bayonne's record breaking season came to an end this morning after defeat to Toulouse 25-32. The visitors kicked 5 first penalties through the boot of sharpshooter Joris Segonds to trail 15-20 but the home side had too much firepower in the end.

Sireli Maqala and Luke Tagi both started the match and will now head back to Fiji to prepare for the international season.

Hughes a target for Racing

Former Black Rhinos Number 8 Nathan Hughes is in the sights of Top 14 club Racing 92. The Parisian club is still reeling from a poor 2025 season which saw them finish 10th and at times during the season in real danger of relegation.

Racing already boast a host of Fijians including Josua Tuisova, Vinaya Habosi, Wame Naituvi and the incoming Selestino Ravutaumada.

Duguivalu selected in France A Squad

Fresh off their access match win over Grenoble, Perpignan Centre Alivereti Duguivalu has been selected in the France A squad to face England XV on next weekend (June 21).

The 27 year old Nadroga native is yet to play representative football and comes in on the back of another solid season where he played 20 matches plus another 2 Challenge Cup games.

Toulon heading to Semi Finals

Toulon are headed to the Top 14 Semi Finals after beating Castres 52-23 in their Quarter Final. Winger Jiuta Wainiqolo set up a try after another amazing run while Setariki Tuicuvu also had a try assist through an offload.

Wainiqolo got his own 5 pointer right at the death to take the score past 50.

While the scoreline suggests a comfortable win for the home side, the match remained close up until the final 15 minutes. Toulon face Bordeaux next weekend.

Perpignan staying in Top 14

Perpignan have defeated Grenoble in a a thrilling contest 13-11 to retain their place in the Top 14. Winger Tavite Veredamu scored his sides only try after only 2 minutes. The match turned into a tight tussle with the lead changing several times. A penalty goal in the 77th minute gave USAP a 2 point lead and ultimately the win.

Bayonne heading to the Semi Finals

Bayonne are one game away from the Top 14 Final after defeating and eliminating Clermont this morning. In pouring rain, points were hard to come by except by the boot. Bayonne kicking 5 penalties and a drop goal to add to their sole try giving them a 20-3 win.

Peceli Yato played his last match for Clermont, leaving for Perpignan next season.

Tagitagivalu injured in Racing win over Montpellier

Racing bounced back after their loss in Castres last weekend with a tough win over Montpellier 32-25.

Lekima Tagitagivalu started at Flanker for the 2nd straight week. He was strong defensively and was solid at lineout but he exited the game in the 37th minute with a knee injury.

The extent of the injury is yet to be determined but he did look quiet uncomfortable during the game.

First Top 14 starting jersey

Alex Masibaka was rewarded for his strong form with his first starting jersey for Montpellier against Racing 92.

He’s had a strong start to his Top 14 career, playing in every match since round 2 and making a big impact off the bench.

However he fairly well contained against Racing, making a modest 22 metres from 6 carries but was busy as usual defensively making 9 tackles and the only MHR player to register a dominant tackle.

Tuisova sets up 2 tries in close win over Montpellier

After a close loss to Castres in Round 5, Castres returned to the winners circle in Week 6 against Montpellier with a hard fought 32-25 win.

Josua Tuisova started at Centre and was fairly well contained by the opposition defence although he still managed to make 49 metres from 8 carries.

He was the difference maker in the end, setting up Wilfried Hulleu for a try with a great offload in the 51st minute before throwing the final pass to Vinaya Habosi who scored the decisive try in the 76th minute.

Habosi scores decisive try against Montpellier

Vinaya Habosi scored the match winning try for Racing 92 in their win over Montpellier. Originally named at Centre, he was forced to the wing from the 8th minute when winger and Skipper Max Spring left the field.

Josua Tuisova threw the final pass for Habosi who powered through 3 defenders for the score in the 76th minute. His try was the difference in the end (32-25). It’s also his 3rd try in as many games.

Hughes stands in as captain in rebound win

Racing bounced back from their heart breaking loss at Castres in round 5 with a win over Montpellier 32-25.

When Captain Max Spring went down in the 8th minute, Nathan Hughes took over as Skipper for the remainder of the match. It was a solid performance without his usual highlight plays but he did make a couple of big carries and led the team well.

Had a scare early in the 2nd half when opposition Lock Florian Verhaeghe dangerously landed on Hughes knee, bending him over backwards which led to a red card. Hughes was replaced but returned for a short stint at the end of the match.

The game remained tight until Vinaya Habosi’s 76th minute try gave the home side enough of a buffer to hold out for the win.

Buliruarua scores in home loss

Eneriko Buliruarua scored his 2nd try of the season for Perpignan who were beaten Stade Francais 28-11.

At home in front of a bumper crowd, Perpignan came out firing but an inability to convert opportunities into points proved costly in the end.

Buliruarua made a game high 8 carries, game high 70 metres and scored their only try in the 41st minute when he ran up in support of a Theo Forner break.
